What's a fanlisting?
A fanlisting is simply an
online list of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician,
that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to
join. The fanlistings .ORG is the biggest and the very first web directory
of fanlistings.

Dark Passion Play is their latest album in which we can find The Poet and
the Pendulum.
The Poet and the Pendulum?
It's the first track from Dark Passion Play. It's a fourteen minutes long
song, and according to Tuomas, the best song he's ever done.
The song is a bit inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's "The Pit and the Pendulum".
The Poet and the Pendulum is about Tuomas. This is a personal interpretation
of the song, it may be wrong, but after reading several articles and
interviews is the closest I can get to the real meaning of the song:
The song is divided in 5 parts:
I.- While Lands of Emphatica
II.- Home
III.- The Pacific
IV.- Dark Passion Play
V.- Mother & Father
Guy Elliot (especial guest singer) starts singing "The end... the songwriter is dead". White lands of Emphatica is the summary of the song, Guy Elliot is just telling us what happened, almost a "Tuomas is dead" but he is willing to tell the whole history, but he's not going to sing it alone, soon he introduces Anette, as the voice who is going to the past and tell the history from the beginning in "Home".
Anette sings how Tuomas was and
how he was leaving behind everything only wishing to go home: "Oh Christ how
I hate what I've become, take me home".
But Guy Elliot is willing to help Anette with the story and soon he begins
"The Pacific". He continues what he left behind "Home", the first part of
The Pacific is almost the second part of White Lands of Emphatica. Both,
Anette and Guy, sing these melodic words until someone else arrives.
Anette and Guy are just
storytellings, we need Tuomas to understand what really happened and a new
voice starts singing the second part of "The Pacifc" it is the voice of
Tuomas, of innocence, Tom Williams. Tom is representing everything Tuomas
once was but now, that innocence, Tom, is hiding in shadows:
"I'm afraid, I'm so afraid. Being raped againg, and again,
and again. I know I will die alone,
but loved..."
It is Tuomas speaking, but with every word, the anger grows until Tom's
voice can't stand all that hate and anger so we need somone else to
represent Tuomas's voice.
It all starts with "Dark Passion Play". Marco is singing. This is ultimate part of the song, where everything comes to an end and nothing can be fixed again, there is no turning back, death is near, and now only Anette and Marco can sing the end of Tuomas :
"The Morning downed upon this altar, remains at
the dark passion play. Performed by
his friends
without shame. Spitting on his grave
as they came..."
He's about to die, and one last storytelling wants to be the one who will end this story. Tom uses his voice one last time among ruins and death and finally tells how Tuomas died:
"...today,
in the year of our lord 2005, Tuomas
was called
from the cares of the World. He
stoped crying
at the end of each beautiful day.
The music he
wrote had too long been without
silence. He
was found naked and dead, with a
smile
on his face, a pen and 1000 pages of
erased text..."
And one last breath to sing: "Save me". And now Tuomas is dead and his body and soul are with his beloved... Mother and Father. There he is, her son is dead, one last verse she is going to sing, Tuomas's mother starts singing with Anette's voice:
"Be still my son, you're home. Oh when did you
become so
cold?. The blade will keep on descending.
All you need
is to feel my love..."
And here we are listening to the most beautiful part of The Poet and the Pendulum: "Mother & Father", the last goodbye Tuomas is going to recive. And she, his mother, ends the last part of this epic song with a lovely: "In the end I will always love you" but this is not the end and Tom doesn't want to leave now, he doesn't want to leave not now not never so he whispers a softly "The beginning..." and forces us to go back to "White Lands of Emphatica" where Guy sang "The end...".
Emphatica is this fanlisting. I took the name from the first time of the song, where Guy sings: "Taking him to the white lands of emphatica..." . The layout features the last part of the IV part, Dark Passion Play. I used:
